Son of Fiat's most enthusiastic Father, Barry Edwards (and not a hint of vicarious living) Simon kicked off his career with a Lotus Cortina in historic saloons before realising that he could race old cars just as quickly but still have money in his pocket if he switched to a Fiat Uno.
His original car, which had been the longest surviving car in the series (having debuted in our first ever race) sadly met its maker (or more precisely Adrian Miller's front bumper) at Mallory Park in 2004.
Since then, Simon, who works in accounts for an F1 team (but denies he has ever had access to any photocopiers) has struggled to live up to his early promise due to a slight lack of horse power which, Barry hopes to solve after a few hours of head scratching.
Following the defection of former champion Jaffa Greatrex to the Cooper Challenge, the hopes of Wales rest entirely on Simon's shoulders. |
